The Right Cat Bed
Cats love to find the warmest and coziest places in which to snuggle up and take a nap. However, sometimes his favorite place is not where you would like him to nap, such as your nice chair or that beautiful new comforter atop your bed. And, of course, many cats prefer sleeping with their owners. Thus, it is probably a good idea to find a special bed for your cat, even though, he may still prefer to snuggle up with you on those cold winter nights.
There is a wide variety of cat beds from which to choose. They are available in many different shapes, styles and colors. Some of these beds include cup style beds; heated beds; window perches; cat sofas; or cat trees.
Cats seem to really enjoy the cup style beds because the circular design is in line with the natural contour of a cat when he is curled up in a sleeping position. This position helps him retain his body heat. The cup beds are usually made with a soft plush fabric that appeals to the cat as well. Cat beds are available in many different sizes and some of them have hoods. Cat beds are very versatile in that you can place them where your cat prefers to sleep.
Pads are flat pieces of fabric, either stuffed or unstuffed, that are placed on a chair or sofa so the cat may lie on it while sleeping. The pads may be made from fake fur or sheepskin and most are machine washable. Some manufacturers claim that their cat pads may be electro-statically charged so that they catch the cat’s dander and hair. The cat pads may be nice-appearing, but placing a towel or blanket over a chair or other furniture will work just as well.
There are heated cat beds that are available in different styles. These beds contain a heating device that fits into a protective outer covering. The temperature of the beds is pre-set so that it will benefit your cat if he sleeps in a colder place in your home or if he suffers from arthritis.
Cat beds are available in styles that resemble furniture. With one of these beds, you will have a place for your cat to sleep that is not only attractive, but will complement your decor. There are different styles to please your cat such as stuffed sofas or chairs, bunk beds, hammocks, or chaise lounges.
